What we place here

What Guangdong is built for

Six of our seven product families start here. The seventh, fine-gauge knitwear, usually goes north.

  • KnitwearFine-gauge sweaters, cardigans
    Usually elsewhere

    MOQ 100 pcsBulk 6–8 wk

Fine-gauge sweaters: we look first in Jiangsu.

MOQ per style; bulk from the approved sample; sampling 2–4 weeks on top. Specialisms, not a quality ranking: good factories exist outside their province’s specialism, and starting in the right cluster shortens the search.

Cities

Where in Guangdong

The four cities the work runs through. We choose the factory for your product, not the city, but the city tells you what the neighborhood is good at.

When to pick another cluster

When Guangdong is the wrong call

Guangdong is where most small brands start, not where every product belongs. Three ways out, and what we don’t place anywhere.

SEASCHEMATIC, NOT TO SCALE010203GUANGDONGYOU ARE HEREZHEJIANGJIANGSUFUJIAN
  1. If the fabric is the product

    Go to Zhejiang

Zhejiang leads on fabric, yarn, synthetic fiber and silk, with woven shirting and fabric mills around Shaoxing. Much of what Guangdong cuts is made there.

    Zhejiang cluster
  2. If you need fine-gauge knitwear or tailoring

    Go to Jiangsu

Jiangsu is known for sweaters, wool knitting and tailoring, and for larger, more technical, structured runs.

    Jiangsu cluster
  3. If it is sportswear at volume

    Go to Fujian

Fujian, around Quanzhou and Jinjiang, is the sportswear cluster. For a first small run we still start in Guangdong.

    Fujian cluster
  4. If it is not clothing

    Not with us

We place apparel only: no footwear, bags or hard goods, and no fast-fashion drop-ship. If you need a unit price below what a documented factory can do at 100 pieces, we tell you so.

Chinese New Year applies everywhere: factories close for roughly 2–4 weeks in late January or February, and output drops before the break.

How the money moves

You pay the balance after the inspection. Not before.

The usual China horror story starts with 100% paid up front. Ours ends with a third-party inspector checking the finished order before the 70% leaves your account.

  • Usually, yes. Guangdong is the downstream cut-and-sew base for small to mid orders, with the fastest sampling we see and fabric markets within driving distance. We place from 100 pieces per style; 150 for outerwear and 200 for denim and activewear.

  • Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Foshan. Knitwear and jersey are mostly around Guangzhou and Foshan; denim and outerwear around Dongguan. We choose the factory for your product, not the city.

  • Not as a rule. The provinces have specialisms, not a quality ranking. What protects you is the check: every factory we place with has been visited in person by our team, and the 70% balance is paid only after a third-party inspection.

  • Sampling takes 2–4 weeks. Bulk takes 8–11 weeks from the approved sample, depending on the product (6–8 weeks for knits and jersey). Start at least 14 weeks before a ship date; Chinese New Year closes factories for roughly 2–4 weeks.

  • The factory quotes you and bills you directly. A 30% deposit starts bulk, and the 70% balance is paid only after a third-party inspection of the finished goods. Our fee, if any, is quoted in writing before any work starts and is never tied to order size.

Production steps

What gets made here, and checked.

Every order we place in Guangdong follows the same steps: sample, 30% deposit, bulk, a third-party inspection, then the 70% balance.
