What you can brief

Hoodies you can brief us on

Cost and time

What a hoodie costs, and how long it takes

The typical cut, make and trim cost, and the calculator estimate for the finished hoodie. Fleece weight and decoration move both more than anything else.

500–1,000 pcs$12.32–$21.12
1,000+ pcs$10.92–$18.72

Calculator estimate for a fleece or French terry hoodie, FOB, per piece. Mid fabric, standard construction, no extras. An estimate, not a quote: the factory quotes from your tech pack. Duty and freight are not included; confirm your HTS code with your customs broker.

What goes into the number

$10–20typical cut, make and trim per hoodie; fabric, trims, complexity and quantity move it
  • Fabric. Organic cotton moves the calculator estimate up by about 30%.
  • Decoration. Embroidery adds about $1.80 a piece in the calculator; a screen print about $1.40.
  • Washes. A garment dye or wash adds about $2.50 a piece in the calculator.
  • Build. Zips, double hoods and extra panels move a style from standard to complex.

Where we place it

Where your hoodies get made

Knitwear and jersey lines around Guangzhou and Foshan sew most of the fleece we place. For a first hoodie run, Guangdong is usually the right start.

Chinese New Year closes factories for roughly 2–4 weeks in late January or February, in every province. Plan the calendar around it.

How the money moves

You pay the balance after the inspection. Not before.

The usual China horror story starts with 100% paid up front. Ours ends with a third-party inspector checking the finished order before the 70% leaves your account.

Watch-outs

Three ways a hoodie order goes wrong

Hoodies are heavy, visible and easy to get almost right. These are the three problems we see most, and the check that removes each one.

  • Risk 01

    The fleece arrives thinner

A heavy sample fleece and a lighter bulk fleece look alike in a photo and feel different in the hand. The weight was never written down.

    The check

Put the weight in gsm, the composition and the brushing on the tech pack, and have the inspector check bulk against it before you pay the 70%.

  • Risk 02

    The hood sits wrong

Hood height and opening decide how a hoodie looks on a person. A sample approved on a hanger can look wrong on a body.

    The check

Approve fit on a person, not a hanger. Hood height, opening and drawcord length go in the size chart with tolerances.

  • Risk 03

    Pilling after a few washes

Some fleece pills early. You find out from reviews, after the balance is paid.

    The check

Wash the approved sample several times before sign-off, and ask the factory which mill made the fleece.

Certificates: ask for the certificate number and the mill name, not the logo. We never claim a factory holds a certificate; the factory shows it to you.

  • From 100 pieces per style. Custom-dyed fleece can raise the minimum per colorway, because the mill sets the dye-lot minimum, not the sewing line. Name every color in the brief.

  • Sampling takes 2–4 weeks. Bulk takes 6–8 weeks from the approved sample to goods ready to ship. If you have a ship date, start at least 14 weeks before it, and plan around Chinese New Year, when factories close for roughly two to four weeks.

  • Typical cut, make and trim is $10–20 a hoodie. The calculator estimate for a finished hoodie at 300–500 pieces is $14.00–24.00 a piece, FOB, before embroidery, washes and labels. The factory quotes the real number from your tech pack.

  • The factory quotes you and bills you directly. Bulk starts on a 30% deposit. The 70% balance is paid only after a third-party inspection of the finished hoodies. Our fee, if any, is quoted in writing before any work starts.

  • Usually, yes: a set cut from the same fleece is common. Each style has its own minimum of 100 pieces, and sharing one fabric and color helps with the mill minimum.
