How we work

How production in China works with us.

You send the brief. We place it with a documented factory we have visited in person, and the factory quotes and bills you directly. You pay 30% to start bulk and the 70% balance only after a third-party inspection. Our fee, if there is one, is in writing before any work starts.

We place the style with a documented factory we have visited in person and that makes your product every day. Our fee, if there is one, is quoted in writing before any work starts and is never tied to order size. You work with that factory directly from the first quote.

      Activewear
      8–10 weeks

      9–11 weeks
    2. InspectorBefore shipment

      Third-party inspection

An independent inspector checks the finished goods against your tech pack before they ship. If they fail, the balance is not released until the factory fixes them.

    3. 70%

      YouAfter the report

Pay the 70% balance, then ship

The 70% balance goes to the factory only once the inspection report is back. Then the goods ship.

Start at least 14 weeks before your ship date, and plan around Chinese New Year: factories close for roughly 2–4 weeks in late January or February.

How the money moves

You pay the balance after the inspection. Not before.

The usual China horror story starts with 100% paid up front. Ours ends with a third-party inspector checking the finished order before the 70% leaves your account.

The factory visit

What we check in person before a factory gets your order.

Every factory we list or place with has been visited in person by our team. A profile page or a trade-fair booth tells you what a supplier wants you to see. A visit tells you who is actually sewing.

Visit checklistCCM

On the floor, we check

  • A real factory, not a trading companyThe business we speak to is the one running the sewing lines, not an office passing orders on.
  • Lines running your categoryKnit, woven, denim, outerwear or activewear: we record what is actually on the machines, not what the brochure lists.
  • Real minimumsThe minimum per style, and where the mill sets a higher minimum per colorway.
  • An English-speaking contactSomeone who answers email, so the brief and the tech pack reach the people making the order.
  • Certificates on fileWe ask for the certificate number and the mill name, not the logo, and you can ask for the same.

The Directory is refreshed every quarter, and removed factories are flagged.

  • No. The factory quotes you and bills you directly, and we take nothing from it. Our own fee, when there is one, is quoted in writing after we read your brief, before any work starts, and it is never tied to your order size.

  • The Factory Directory is $49, one-time: 80+ documented factories we have visited in person, with contact emails, minimums where published, specialties, certifications and region. You do the outreach yourself.

Sending a brief is free. We read it, place the style with a documented factory built for it, and the third-party inspection sits before your 70% balance.

  • Yes. The tech pack service is a standalone $79 per style, delivered 3–5 working days after your intake form comes back, with 2–3 revision rounds. It does not include fabric sourcing or placement.

  • A factory is assigned within 7 days of a qualified brief. Sampling takes 2–4 weeks. Bulk takes 8–11 weeks from approved sample to goods ready, depending on the product. With a ship date in mind, start at least 14 weeks before it, and plan around Chinese New Year, when factories close for roughly 2–4 weeks.

  • Brands that need a unit price below what a documented factory can do at 100 pieces. Footwear, bags and hard goods: we only do apparel. Fast-fashion drop-ship.

  • If no factory we work with is built for your product, we tell you so by email before any fee is agreed. Sending a brief is free. The Directory and the tech pack are one-time purchases, and all sales are final.
